Algeria – Six (6) cases of irrigation of agricultural crops with wastewater were recorded last August in Henancha commune, in Souk Ahras wilaya, was learned Sunday from National Gendarmerie Services, noting that the mis en cause brought to justice.
These irrigations have targeted seven (7) hectares planted with tomatoes and peppers, said the services of this body that seized the equipment used in the pumping of wastewater.
Acting on information indicating a detrimental act for the health of the consumer, the services of the National Gendarmerie opened an investigation during which a control operation of water pumps used in the irrigation of agricultural fields was launched, the same source added, adding that the water samples used in the irrigation were taken and analyzed, confirming the dubious quality of this water.
"Rigorous" measures were taken against the persons involved, it was further stated, stating that the accused were brought to justice.
In parallel, the operations of control and analysis of the water of the boreholes and some natural water sources, carried out by the communal office of hygiene, continue in the framework of the fight against the diseases with water transmission (MTH), it was said, pointing out that the water source of Ain Bendada in the commune of Ouled Idriss was banned for consumption following the results of bacteriological tests.
