Algeria – Hospital of Laghouat wilaya suffers from lack of ambulances and non-availability of midwives
Due to a lack of material and human resources, including ambulances and midwives, at the hospital in the new town of Bellil in Laghouat, a fetus died and his mother was transferred to the intensive care unit.
The family members of this woman, who was in serious condition, brought her to the hospital at 4 am, where they asked the emergency department to transfer her to Laghouat Hospital ( chief town), because his case required a trip by an ambulance
"They told us they only had one ambulance," said the woman's brother-in-law. "There was not even a midwife … and unfortunately the fetus died," he added.
The victim's family has also asked the authorities to launch a thorough investigation into this scandal of lack of resources in the health sector.
