Algeria – A retired General and a Senator wage a merciless war in the south of the country.
Stakes: billions in market shares in the guarding and security of oil and gas sites!
In Hassi R'mel, the Private Security Group El Amine Gard landed on October 22, the mission of monitoring and guarding the oil sites of Hassi R'mel and Oued Noumer with Sonatrach. Cost of the contract: 532 million dinars
This is reported in its edition of this Thursday, 1 er November, Maghreb Confidential Magazine. The latter seems to see "A true passage to generational witness". Indeed, this company, owned by current Tébessa Senator Khaled Boudjaber, is chasing another pedigreed politician. The contract had been held for several years by Vigilance. A Guardian Company, of which one of the main shareholders is Adbelmadjid Cherif, retired General and former deputy of Tebessa. The latter was, at one time, one of the most prominent men in the army (he commanded the Naval Forces and the Cherchell Military Academy). Abdelmadjid Cherif, born in 1940, is said to be the brother-in-law of former president Liamine Zeroual.
A bygone era …
Thus, El Amine Gard will only ensure the "unarmed" surveillance of the two sites of Sonatrach. Where Vigilance also lined armed guards. Not reassigned, this mission could be entrusted to the police.
The contract is nonetheless strategic. Indeed, Sonatrach operates at Hassi R'mel, the largest gas field in Africa.
Finally, remember that the company EL Amine Gard had already won another particularly sensitive security market: that of In Amenas. The latter was targeted in 2013 by a terrorist commando from Libya that left 40 dead.
