Air Algeria: Heavy sanctions against strikers

Algeria – The national airline, Air Algérie, has decided to take action against aircraft maintenance technicians who have been on a work stoppage since Sunday morning, the company said.

"Following the persistence of the illegal work stoppage, the Air Algerian management took the appropriate measures, in accordance with the legal and regulatory provisions, against those at fault", we are told .

According to our information, the airline has decided to punish the strikers, after the failure of attempts to dialogue. The stoppage of work deemed illegal was noted by a bailiff. According to our information, these are sanctions that will precede a summons before the Disciplinary Board, which would open the door to probable dismissals.

As a reminder, the National Union of Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (SNTMA) denounced, in a statement issued Sunday night, the lack of response to the demands of strikers.
