Algeria – Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia reaffirmed it on Monday. Any Algerian national who happens to be in an irregular situation in Europe will be repatriated.
Questioned at a press conference co-hosted by the Italian Prime Minister, Ahmed Ouyahia said the discussions lasted only 10 minutes on the issue of migrants, since things are clear between two parts.
Thus, if Algeria refuses to open migrant detention centers on its territory, it is his duty, says the Prime Minister, to receive his nationals in an irregular situation abroad.
Ahmed Ouyahia assures, moreover, that more than 40 000 Algerians live in a regular situation in Italy, whereas less than 900 are in an irregular situation. For him, several nationals from other Maghreb countries claim to be Algerians.
To this end, it recalls the conditions set by the Algerian authorities for repatriation, in particular the fact of confirming the identity of a national to be repatriated.
