Algeria – An octogenarian died Friday night in a fire that ravaged a prefabricated construction in Khemis Miliana (Ain Defla), said Saturday the communication unit of the local Directorate of Civil Protection.
"The victim, aged 87, was found burnt after a fire broke out in a prefabricated building located in the Souamaâ city of Khémis Miliana," said the communications manager the local Directorate of Civil Protection, Captain Kamel Hamdi, stating that the causes of the incident remain unknown.
Control of the fire required the mobilization of 25 men and 4 large vehicles, he said, noting that the speed of the firefighters' intervention prevented the fire from spreading to neighboring homes similar to the flammable nature of prefabricated buildings.
The remains of the victim were transferred to the hospital morgue of Khémis Miliana, the same source said.
An investigation was opened by the competent services to clarify the exact circumstances of this incident.
