A call for candidacy addressed to young Algerian musicians has been launched by the National Office for Copyright and Neighboring Rights (Onda) for the creation of a new Youth Orchestra of Algeria, announces on its website.
Placed under the guidance of musicologist and composer Salim Dada, this project aims to create a new ensemble music ensemble dedicated to youth.
Candidates must be between the ages of 15 and 35, be able to read a score and know how to play a symphonic orchestral instrument, and complete a downloadable application form on [email protected] Application forms accompanied by demonstration videos (interpretation and improvisation) must be sent before November 20th. A musicians selection session is scheduled for Algiers from December 22 to 30.
Musicians, composer, and conductor, Salim Dada is a researcher in ethnomusicology affiliated with the National Center for Prehistoric, Anthropological and Historical Research (Cnrpah).
He composed a dozen symphonic works and was appointed composer-in-residence of the Divertimento Symphony Orchestra in Italy. He also collaborated with the Opera Orchestra of Algiers and was associated with several Algerian, French and Italian artistic creations.
