More than 2,220 hectares ravaged since the beginning of the summer

Algeria – The director general of forests, Ali Mahmoudi, reported on the national radio, channel 1 that some 2,220 hectares of forest massifs had been the prey of fires since the beginning of the summer season .

The eastern part of the country, including Khenchela, Souk Ahras and Batna, are the wilayas most affected by these forest fires with more than 800 hectares devastated.

On the other hand the Director General of Forests will say that a special program for the fight against forest fires has been developed. "It concerns 40 wilayas," he added, and consisted of an intervention system led by the forest administration and included 407 surveillance sites and 473 mobile first response teams.

The guest of the channel One of the Algerian Radio, announced that its direction is equipped with modern means of prevention and intervention of which 44 trucks tank (light weight) conceived especially for the fight against the fires .

In addition to the endowment of forest agents with 4,600 fire-fighting suits, 5 mobile intervention columns covering 5 regions in the north of the country were deployed.
