Algeria – The Prime Ministry reacted today to the controversy surrounding Ahmed Ouyahia's speech in Paris on the occasion of the commemorations of the Armistice.
"A private television channel indulged in an odious attempt to manipulate by editing the words of the Prime Minister about the martyrs of the war of national liberation who were quoted as dead and not as chouhada ", Said in a statement released on Monday.
The First Ministry recalls, "in order to restore the truth", the despatch of the official APS Agency:
"At the beginning of his address on this occasion, Mr. Ouyahia recalled that" the First World War the Algerian people, then colonized, tens of thousands of deaths. "I bow here to their memory, as well as to the memory of all the victims of this conflict".
"Mr. Ouyahia also recalled" the glorious struggle of the Algerian people who suffered the horrors of war to recover their independence, at the price of one (1) million and a half million martyrs, victims and displaced persons, and heavy destruction ".
