One of the six accused was sentenced to 20 years in prison, two nine years, two others five years and one to three years.
The representative of the Public Prosecutor's Office requested a 20-year prison sentence for the six defendants and a fine of DA 2 million each.
The case goes back to 2017, when the security services, acting on news reports of several individuals with suspicious activities related to a terrorist organization abroad, opened an investigation which resulted in the arrest of five aged between 19 and 56 years. A sixth is currently on the run.
Investigators seized video recordings of terrorist acts and murders perpetrated by the terrorist organization in question, as well as subversive documents.
The links and contacts between the accused and the terrorist organization on social networks and various other telephone links were also established by the security services, as well as documents proving attempts to join this organization abroad .
The defense of the accused tried to minimize the facts, arguing that the mis en cause had no real intentions to join the terrorist organization and that the documents found in their possession are accessible to all on the Internet, adding that their constituents had gathered them as curiosity, while pleading extenuating circumstances.
