Signature of a contract between Sonatrach and Italian Tecnimont for the construction of a LPG train

Algeria – An engineering project construction contract (EPC) was signed Monday in Algiers between the Sonatrach group and the Italian engineering company Maire Tecnimont, for the realization of a 4th train of Petroleum Gas Liquefied (LPG).

Initialed by the Sonatrach Engineering & Project Management (EPM) central director, Faiz Zane, from the Algerian side, and Pierroberto Folgiero, P-dg deTecnimont, of the Italian part, this contract is estimated at 29, 17 billion dinars, or $ 248.5 million.

The turnkey project will be located at the GPL-ZCINA industrial complex located six (6) km from Hassi Messaoud and whose nominal gas treatment capacity is estimated at eight (8) million. sm3 / day, said Zane.

This project, whose final acceptance is scheduled for June 2021, will essentially allow the associated gas produced at the level of the North Hassi-Messaoud field to be increased in order to increase LPG production from 3,600 tons / day to 4,800 tons / j and condensate from 330 t / d to 480 t / d, he said.

The services and supplies of this EPC contract include, but are not limited to, detailed engineering studies, procurement of equipment and materials, construction, and commissioning tests.

According to Mr. Zane, the work to be carried out will consist essentially of an inlet slug catcher, a gas-oil turbo-compressor, an additional LPG train with a nominal treatment capacity of eight (8) million m3 / d and additional utilities.

Recalling that at the level of the GPL-ZCINA industrial complex, three LPG trains had already been in operation since June 2013, Mr. Zane pointed out that the signing of this contract was "a special event" because, he was the first project of the Sonatrach group finalized by the new structure "Engineering & Project Management" (EPM), born from the new organization of the group.

Sonatrach Group CEO Abdelmoumen Ould Kaddour, for his part, stressed the importance of this contract, especially since it was part of the Sonatrach Strategy ( SH-2030) relying mainly on increased hydrocarbon production.

"This contract is very important for the group because the increase in production is an important element in HS -2030," said Ould Kaddour.

The first Sonatrach Group leader insisted, however, on the need to respect deadlines and costs as well as the quality of the project to be carried out.

"I insist that the project respects the deadlines and the costs envisaged in the contract without omitting the aspect quality," said Ould Kaddour who returned to the charge: "we hope that this project is exemplary in terms of meeting deadlines, costs and quality. "

The CEO of Italian Tecnimont, for his part, expressed his great satisfaction with the conclusion of this contract with Sonatrach. "We are very pleased to make joint investments with Sonatrach," he said.
