Algeria – The high-level annual meeting between Algeria and the European Union (EU) in the energy sector will be held Tuesday, November 20 in Algiers, said the Ministry of Energy in a statement.
Co-chaired by the Minister of Energy, Mustapha Guitouni, and the European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy, Miguel Arias Canete, this meeting is part of the Strategic Partnership between the EU and Algeria in the field of energy
This partnership covers all topics of common interest, namely hydrocarbons, renewable energies and energy efficiency, the reform of the legislative and regulatory framework, the gradual integration of energy markets, the development of infrastructure of common interest, technology transfer and local development.
At this meeting, the two sides will take stock of the progress made in the field of energy cooperation since the launch of the Strategic Partnership, particularly with regard to European investments in gas production and transport, as well as than in the sector of renewable energies and energy efficiency in Algeria, says the same source.
Prospects for cooperation to strengthen partnership and relations with the aim of diversifying and intensifying them will also be on the agenda.
The Strategic Partnership established between Algeria and the EU in the field of energy is a permanent and structural component of the Algerian-European relations, notes the ministry. As part of this partnership, the first EU-Algeria Business Forum took place in May 2016, the press release recalls.
