ALGIERS- The 13th Conference African Economic Outlook (AEC) will begin on Monday in Kigali (Rwanda) under the theme "Regional and Continental Integration for Africa's Development," the African Development Bank (AfDB) said on its website.
Organized jointly by the AfDB, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), this conference, to be held from December 3 to 5, will provide researchers, policymakers and development practitioners, a unique opportunity to debate and learn about continental integration solutions, according to the pan-African bank.
"Discussions will focus on innovative solutions to obstacles to regional and continental integration in Africa," she added.
The main objective of the 2018 edition, says the AfDB, is to "promote knowledge management as an important driver of policy dialogue, which promotes the exchange of ideas and innovative thinking among researchers, development practitioners and policy makers ".
The conference will offer young African researchers, Africans from the Diaspora and regional and sub-regional organizations the opportunity to disseminate the results of their research and share information with African policymakers on the work they are doing in the region.
The previous African Economic Conference was held in 2017 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and focused on how African countries could achieve structural transformation through governance.
