Algerian football club MC Alger defeated its Bahraini counterpart Al-Riffa SC 2-1 (half-time: 1-1) for the match to go to the 32nd round of the Arab Cup of Clubs football champions, disputed Thursday in Manama (Bahrain).
The Mouloudéens opened the score in the third minute through Walid Derardja, also involved in the second goal with a decisive pass for Bourdim in the 58th minute. The premises had equalized in the 39th by Ali Haram.
The return match is scheduled for 28 September in Algiers at the July 5th stadium. On Wednesday, USM Alger snatched a valuable away win over Iraq's Air Force counterpart (1-0, half-time 0-0), thanks to Mahious's goal in the 72nd minute.
For his part, ES Setif qualified for the next round at the expense of Emiratis Al-Ain (go: 2-1, 0-1 return). The double confrontation was played in Zagreb at the request of the Emirati formation which carried out a training course in the Croatian capital.
