Former Barcelona and Real Madrid player Ronaldo of Brazil was hospitalized for pneumonia on the Spanish island of Ibiza.
Former Brazilian international Ronaldo, now 41 years old and retired, was admitted Friday afternoon in intensive care to Can Misses Hospital, where the diagnosis of pneumonia was made, according to the daily Diario de Ibiza.
A few hours later, Ronaldo asked to be transferred to a private hospital, Notre Dame du Rosaire Clinic.
The former Barcelona and Real Madrid player is still in intensive care but his condition is "evolving favorably," according to sources in the Spanish newspaper.
Ronaldo, "He Fenomeno", double world champion, scored 62 goals in 97 caps, including two of Brazil's victory over Germany in the 2002 World Cup final.
