The suicide bombing that targeted protesters near Jalalabad in eastern Afghanistan on Tuesday left 19 dead and 51 wounded, according to a new report reported by an official in Nangahar province.
A previous report stated 8 killed and 35 wounded.
Protesters gathered near the Pakistan border, blocking access, to protest against the appointment of a new police chief, when the suicide bomber blew up his charge.
Tuesday morning in Jalalabad, a double attack on a girls' school resulted in one death and four injuries. A first explosion was heard in front of Malika Omaira girls' school around 8:30 am local time (4:00 GMT).
A second explosion occurred as students from a nearby boys' school rushed to the scene.
