Donald Trump fires Justice Minister Jeff Sessions

US Justice Minister Jeff Sessions was sacked Wednesday by President Donald Trump who announced in the wake of his replacement by Matthew Whitaker, Chief of Staff of the Attorney General.

This departure is not a surprise, the White House having multiplied the signs of annoyance at the behavior of Jeff Sessions, accused of not doing enough to put an end to the investigation led by the special prosecutor Robert Mueller on the possible involvement of Russia in the 2016 election campaign.

Never in modern history has a minister ever suffered so many verbal attacks from a president. A convinced Conservative, Jeff Sessions, 71, was one of the first Republican Party caciques in 2015 to support Donald Trump's candidacy for the Republican nomination.
