Algeria – The French Minister for Ecological Transition, Nicolas Hulot, announced today, Tuesday, August 28, 2018, his decision to leave the government, failing to obtain sufficient progress in the environment.
"I make the decision to leave the government," he said, confident that he felt "alone in the maneuver" on environmental issues. According to the daily Le Monde, Hulot assured not to have warned neither the president of the Republic Emmanuel Macron, nor the prime minister Edouard Philippe. "It's a decision between me and me," he said later.
"I'm going to make the hardest decision of my life, I do not want to lie to myself anymore, I do not want to give the illusion that my presence in government means we're up to the challenge" , added the French ecologist.
