Appeasement in the Middle East. The Islamist Hamas movement and Palestinian armed groups on Tuesday (November 13th) announced a ceasefire with Israel reached indirectly on Egyptian intercession, after the most severe confrontation between the two camps since the 2014 war.
"The efforts of Egypt led to a cease-fire […] and the resistance will respect it as long as the Zionist enemy will respect it", announced in the afternoon Palestinian armed groups in a joint statement. The Gaza Strip was calm in the evening and the schools, closed during the day, had to reopen on Wednesday morning, according to an AFP journalist.
