Iraq: At least 11 dead in suicide car bomb attack

At least 11 people were killed, including five members of the security forces, in a suicide car bomb attack on a checkpoint at the entrance to Qaïm, a town 340 km west of Baghdad. , according to the police.

The blast, which occurred at 09:00 local time (0600 GMT), also injured five other members of the security services and 11 civilians, told AFP police captain Mahmoud Jassem.

Among the dead are two regulars and three members of Hashd al-Shaabi, the paramilitary auxiliaries who helped the army to chase the Daesh group.

Government forces retook Al-Qaim in November 2017, one of the last remaining in the hands of terrorists.
