The new socialist government has decided not to deliver 400 bombs to Riyadh – a contract signed by the right in 2015. Saudi Arabia's commitment in the civil war in Yemen would be the main reason for this breach of contract .
Once again, the Socialist Pedro Sánchez, who came to power in early June, takes the opposite of his predecessor Mariano Rajoy, of the People's Party ( PP right). As announced on the evening of Monday, September 3, the Cadena SER one of the main Spanish radio stations, the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, decided to cancel a contract of sale of arms to Saudi Arabia. Information confirmed by other sources.
This is, says the site of the radio, "400 laser-guided bombs [air-sol] that are located on a military base in the region of Aragon, waiting for buyers to take delivery". The main reason for the cancellation of the contract would be the engagement of Saudi Arabia – at the head of an Arab military coalition – in Yemen, in the midst of a civil war, which left tens of thousands dead.
