Nearly 300,000 men, all the components of the army involved and Chinese soldiers in support: Russia launches, Tuesday, September 11, the largest military maneuvers in its history. Maneuvers denounced by NATO as the repetition of a "major conflict".
This massive deployment and the participation of Chinese and Mongolian armies in these exercises called "Vostok-2018" (East-2018), organized from 11 to 17 September in Eastern Siberia and the Russian Far East, are part of a context of persistent tensions with Westerners, between Ukrainian crisis, conflict in Syria and innumerable accusations of interference in Western politics.
All the modern repertoire of the Russian army will be in the game: Iskander missiles, capable of carrying nuclear warheads, also T-80 and T-90 tanks or the recent Su-34 and Su-34 fighter jets. 35. At sea, the Russian fleet will deploy several frigates equipped with Kalibr missiles, which have proved their worth in Syria.

Chinese aviation will also send six planes and 24 helicopters to join the military maneuvers, according to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
On the sidelines of the Vladivostok Economic Forum, Vladimir Putin is also expected to attend Vostok-2018.
